Description
The Doppler Bubble Monitor (DBM9008) is a portable ultrasonic system for aural detection of nitrogen bubbles in the blood stream. The DBM9008 has proven to be a valuable research tool in the evaluation and development of decompression tables and profiles for divers, altitude profiles for pilots and microgravity research.
The DBM9008 is based on equipment originally developed for the measurement of blood flow. As bubbles are stronger reflectors of ultrasound than the normal components of the blood, their signal can be easily detected against the background signal from the blood. The reflected signal contains information about the blood flow rate and bubble content. Gas bubble content is the most typically measured in the precordial region and at the subclavian vein.
