Ductless or split-system air-conditioners and heat pumps (mini split systems) have vast potential uses for residential, commercial, and institutional buildings.

The most frequently used applications for ductless systems are in multifamily dwellings; as retrofit add-ons to homes which have ductless heating systems such as hydronic/hot water heating systems, radiant panels, and space heaters that used wood, oil or propane.

A ductless systems is also useful for small add-on rooms and small apartments, where extending or installing ductwork is not practicable.
