SCLAIR® Resins

SCLAIR resins are manufactured using both SCLAIRTECH™ technology - NOVA Chemicals' original solution polyethylene technology - as well as Advanced SCLAIRTECH technology, which is a proprietary solution technology that can utilize both single-site and Ziegler-Natta catalysts.

The SCLAIR family of resins, made with our proprietary advanced Ziegler-Natta or single-site Advanced SCLAIRTECH catalyst technology, meet or exceed industry benchmarks. SCLAIR octene resins are made at Joffre, Alberta on "PE2" (our second polyethylene unit at Joffre), which uses Advanced SCLAIRTECH technology; and also at Corunna, Ontario on "B-Line" using SCLAIRTECH technology. In both cases, the finished products command higher value than standard polyethylene products.

Customers find that SCLAIR resins can be easily tailored to meet their needs and have excellent overall processability, which provides them with increased throughput. These performance resins are available as butene and octene grades and can be can be made as linear low-density and high-density polyethylene. The tailoring and versatility of SCLAIR resins makes them suited for small-part blow molding, high-flow injection molding, and flexible packaging applications. Common end-use products include housewares, pails, toys, bottles and pipe.
